Welcome to Nancy Island Historic Site

Nancy Island Historic Site in Wasaga Beach, Ontario, is officially designated as a National Historic Event by Parks Canada. It commemorates the pivotal role of HMS Nancy, a British supply schooner destroyed during the War of 1812, in defending Upper Canada.

The site preserves the ship’s hull and features engaging exhibits that explore the strategic importance of the Great Lakes in protecting Ontario and shaping Canada’s early naval history. As a steward of national heritage, Nancy Island plays a vital role in preserving the legacy of Canada’s wartime past for future generations.

Opening May 2, 2026

Nancy Island Historic Site will be open to the general public 7 days a week, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting May 2, 2026.

Educational programming

At Nancy Island Historic Site, students dive into the dramatic story of HMS Nancy and key events of the War of 1812. Students explore Canada’s early battles, alliances, and the strategic importance of the Great Lakes in shaping national history.

Nancy Island will also host seasonal events such as Snowman Mania on Family Day weekend and a lineup of summer activities that are sure to delight visitors of all ages.
