Welcome to Nancy Island Historic Site
Nancy Island Historic Site in Wasaga Beach, Ontario, is officially designated as a National Historic Event by Parks Canada. It commemorates the pivotal role of HMS Nancy, a British supply schooner destroyed during the War of 1812, in defending Upper Canada.
The site preserves the ship’s hull and features engaging exhibits that explore the strategic importance of the Great Lakes in protecting Ontario and shaping Canada’s early naval history. As a steward of national heritage, Nancy Island plays a vital role in preserving the legacy of Canada’s wartime past for future generations.

Awaken the Isle
Experience Awaken the Isle, a free daytime pirate-themed adventure at Nancy Island where visitors of all ages can dive into a world of playful quests, roaming characters, and interactive storytelling. Explore hands-on activities and creative challenges that bring the island to life, with costumes encouraged and discoveries around every corner—creating a fun, family-friendly celebration filled with imagination and adventure.
Historic Journeys: Stories of Sport, Flight and War
These engaging talks uncover tales of adventure, innovation, conflict, and community. Topics vary by date, including:
- HMS Nancy and the Battle of the Nottawasaga River
- The Flight of the Trail of the Caribou
- Game On, Eh! The Evolution of Canadian Sport
This series complements the Town of Wasaga Beach’s Summer Sets, a free live concert series held Friday nights on the island.

Open daily
Nancy Island is open to the general public 7 days a week, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Sunday, October 11. General admission is free and optional guided tours are $5 per person.
